
Job Training Program
Located in Gilbert, Arizona, Not Your Typical Culinary Academy (NYTCA) is a culinary training program for adults with autism and/or other disabilities. The program provides quality training in skills necessary for employment in the restaurant and hospitality industry, which are taught in our classroom designed as a working kitchen. The 12 week course will explore the ins and outs of the culinary industry, giving each client skills for success in the work force. Upon finishing the program, graduates will receive a certificate of completion which can be used when seeking employment. The Program is offered under contract with Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) for the State of Arizona Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services. As a result, students who qualify can attend free of charge.
Course Details:
12 weeks
Monday through Friday, 8AM-12PM
240 hours total
Each session has 10 to 12 students and 2 instructors.

Meet the Staff
Chef W, Executive Director
The course will be instructed by Chef W Rieth of Not Your Typical Deli. Chef W has been in the culinary industry for over 25 years and has successfully taught culinary programs in the special needs community for the past eight years. Chef W is the co-founder of Not Your Typical Deli, which employs individuals with special needs in an integrated work environment.
Allison Kolanko, Program Director
Allison has spent over a decade in Gilbert Public Schools. She has worked as a teacher for students with autism; as a department chair overseeing the special education programs; and as an instructional coach for special education teachers at the secondary level, including transition services. allison@nytculinaryacademy.com
